製版工藝對線條原稿的要求主要是:線條原稿的色彩、色調深淺變化應該有明顯的邊界。諸如圖表、漫畫、鋼筆畫、木刻畫、版畫、地圖等線條原稿製版時要求它們圖線清晰、黑白分明,彩色線條原稿要求色彩有足夠的濃度。對線條原稿的掃描,首先選擇掃描色彩模式“ Line art,掃描時應該註意閾值( Threshold)的設定,即把原稿上哪些色調的內容掃成黑,哪些內容掃成白,使其在畫稿最亮或最暗區域能保留足夠的細節。一般以閾值50%為標準值,如果待掃描圖過暗,則應該增加閾值,這樣可將更多的灰邊緣轉換成白像素。如果待掃描圖過亮,則應該降低閾值,這樣可將更多的灰邊緣轉換成黑像素。


線條原稿的掃描解析度應高於連續調圖像的掃描解析度一般應在600dpi以上才能使輸出的線條鋸齒很小,並且肉眼看不見。如果設置的圖像解析度太低,會產生鋸齒。對某些線條稿,也可以用256級灰度掃描,所掃描圖像相對比採用 Line art模式光滑,且對某些邊緣處的灰度保存較好,掃入 Photoshop中可以視情況把它們調校到黑色。
