印刷的成品，錶面覆蓋柱面透鏡柵板後，觀察時才有立體感，否則印刷品上由於多幅圖像疊印顯得模糊不清。柱面透鏡柵板有硬塑料和軟塑料兩種，幅面大時，用硬塑料為宜。

用於復合的塑料種類很多，如1962年美國柯達一佩蒂公司申請的丙烯、丁烯共聚物專利，此外還有聚乙烯、聚丙烯、乙烯基甲苯、未增塑的聚氯乙烯、定向的聚苯乙烯、環氧樹脂等。

目前應用最多的是來源豐富、價格低廉、光學性能達到標準的聚苯乙烯和聚氯乙烯聚苯乙烯俗稱硬塑，是一種無色透明，硬而脆的熱塑性樹脂，透明度為88%92%，在298K、589mm的條件下測得折射率為1.59。

聚苯乙烯吸濕性小，僅達0.02%，故在潮濕的不境中能保持一定的穩定性，其成型收縮率為0.45%。

目前國內生產的最大幅面是20cmxcm，而硬塑的柵距一般為0.44mm左右，則平均每個小柱鏡僅有千分之一左右的收縮。

聚氯乙烯俗稱軟塑。它是一種多組分塑料，有軟、硬之分（由加不加增塑劑決定），其耐化學性、耐磨、強度高、價廉、來源廣的優點。其製品硬且挺，性能穩定，易於保存。

製作層次豐富、細膩，近距觀看的圖片柱面透鏡復合之前必須事先根據參數製作一個柱面透鏡陰模板，然後邊層壓邊成型。
