版式設計不僅僅是確定版心的大小、位置,還要構成版面的節奏與韻律。節奏是重復的律動,韻律是富有變化的、有組織有反復的交替。

構成節奏的重要因素有兩個:

一是指運動過程中的時間因素;

二是指由於強弱變化所形成的力的因素。

音樂中的聽覺節奏是通過聲音的高低、強弱、長短等因素有規律地交替表現出來的。

節奏還具有視覺作用,平面設計畫面視覺效果中的節奏是通過圖形或色彩的漸大漸小、漸強漸弱、漸長漸短、漸明漸暗、漸高漸低等排列規律表現出來的。

節奏與韻律本來是音樂中的術語,節奏是音樂中有規律的鼓點節拍,而韻律是在穿插於節拍之中的起伏的旋律,它有高有低,有快有慢,連綿不斷,在統一的調子中具有豐富的變化,產生美妙的旋律。作為視覺藝術的節奏與韻律,和音樂中的節與韻律一樣,視覺藝術需要將抽象的點、線、面等形狀有意識、有秩序地安排,產生對比與和諧,從中產生視覺的節奏與韻律。
