很多著名的色彩學者都認為,流行色和自身所在的自然環境密切相關。比如位於北半球的人們對於自然環境的變化感覺很遲鈍,因此喜歡柔和的色調;而位於南半球的人則更容易接受自然變化,因此偏愛強烈的顏色。

很多著名的色彩學者都認為,流行色和自身所在的自然環境密切相關。比如位於北半球的人們對於自然環境的變化感覺很遲鈍,因此喜歡柔和的色調;而位於南半球的人則更容易接受自然變化,因此偏愛強烈的顏色。

又如意大利的一個色彩專家曾經在歐洲某一個地區做日光的實驗測定,其結果表明北歐的陽光比較傾向於泛藍的日光燈顏色,而人們在這種光源下長期生活,就會產生這樣的愛好和習慣,所以北歐人比較喜歡綠色和青色,而意大利人比較喜歡紅磚色和黃色這都和陽光的偏色密切相關。

又如在美國,以紐約為中心的大西洋沿岸城市比較喜歡灰色調類的暗淡色,但是以洛杉磯等太平洋沿岸城市則喜歡鮮明色。

又如日本的東南部地區喜歡鮮明色,而日本的東北部地區則比較偏向於櫻紅色。這就說明,自然環境中的陽光和色彩等都會影響到當地人們對於色彩的偏好。而人們偏愛的色彩自然很容易作為流行色在本地區流行和發展起來。
