電子紙今後如果要獲得更大的發展,至少需要解決彩色、抗壓、刷新三大技術問題

①目前電子紙主要還是黑白兩色,多彩色還在研發中。Elnk電子紙當前最高也只有16級灰度,這對於期刊文字、圖片等不太理想。提高灰度對閱讀當然有利,黑色的顯示不應低於30級灰度。至於彩色問題,雖然富士通公司已經研發出了26萬色的彩色屏幕,但對實際應用也嫌太少了


②因為EIk電子紙太薄,耐壓性差,必須設法提升Elnk電子紙屏幕的抗壓性。否則,要實現電子紙商品化將會困難重重


③解決E-lnk電子紙的刷新過慢問題。因為它的顯示不需要電子維持,使其耗電量極低,所以在翻頁時需要進行全屏刷新。這樣一來,就造成了翻頁時刷新速度過慢,進一步制約了電子紙的應用(如視頻、動畫、網頁都需要頻繁刷新)。


此外,還必須能有效解決電子紙的價格問題。盡管電子紙的未來用途非常寬廣,並從小尺寸擴展到大尺寸,但高額的售價很難擴大銷路,更談不上普及
