莫裡斯的書籍設計

他在生命的最後幾年裡,將全部的熱情投入到書籍設計中,他認為,“書不只是閱讀的工具,也是藝術的一種門類”。

1891年,威廉·莫裡斯建立了凱姆斯各特出版社,該出版社借鑒中世紀手抄本的設計理念,講究工藝技巧,製作嚴謹,書籍精美、優雅、簡潔,充滿了理性、改良的古典主義和自然主義風格。

其代表作品是《喬叟詩集》,這本書是他所倡導的“書籍之美”理念的最好體現,被認為是書籍裝幀史上傑出的作品。
