印刷包裝廠潤版液的pH值過低(酸性太強),會引起版基嚴重腐蝕、油墨乾燥緩慢。這是由於潤版液是弱酸性介質,在這弱酸性介質中,版基會被輕度腐蝕,生成親水鹽層。如果酸性增大pH值下降過快,印版的空白部分就會受到深度腐蝕,使印版的空白部分出現砂眼,不能形成堅固的親水鹽層。在油墨中有一定的催乾劑(燥油),潤版液的pH值過低時,就會和金屬鹽的乾燥劑發生反應,改變了油墨的乾燥時間。

潤版液的pH值過高(偏向鹼性),就會使光分解型PS版圖文部分的重氮化合物溶解,造成印版的圖像殘缺不齊、印刷質量下降,並且引起油墨的乳化。
