　　業內人士指出，水性油墨目前被公認為世界上最環保的油墨，溶劑是水，無毒無味，可自然分解，現已廣泛應用於食品包裝、藥品包裝、煙袋等行業。

步殼印刷
　　從公司合作客戶的不同要求來看，步殼印刷企業要求使用水性油墨，在減少包裝印刷面積的同時，大多是基於簡單的圖案。國內企業通常強調包裝圖案的寫實性，使油墨的用量增加，甚至為了達到客戶要求的色彩效果，還需要在包裝上反復打印幾層油墨。雖然它們都是用水墨和水洗印刷的，但這種"資源浪費"根本不能稱為"環境保護"。

　　歸根結底，思維方式決定了油墨市場的環保程度。在歐美日等發達國家，水性油墨已經逐漸取代溶劑型油墨，除了膠印其他印刷方式的特種油墨，以美國為例，95%的柔性印刷，80%的凹印都是水性油墨。這種市場格局主要得益於國外簡單的生活理念，他們能接受的包裝印刷不是那麽精美，圖案很簡單，甚至只有幾個字母。 國外的人可以意識到，步殼印刷包裝上的印刷越簡單，墨水量越少，對內裝物的影響越小，使用就越安全，越環保。

　　水性油墨最重要的應用領域是柔性印刷和凹版印刷。近年來，我國的發展速度也比較快，但與國外相比仍存在較大的差距。水性油墨除環保外，還具有油墨顏色穩定、亮度高、著色能力強、無腐蝕、印刷後附著力強、乾燥速度可調、耐水性強、四色覆印、光斑印刷等特點。我國水性油墨的發展和應用起步較晚，但發展迅速，尤其是近幾年。隨著人們對水性油墨需求的增加，國產水性油墨的質量也有了一定程度的提高。

　　傳統意義上，水性油墨因其乾燥速度慢、光澤差、耐水性、假印花等特點而得到明顯改善。在進口水性油墨價格普遍較高的情況下，國內價格低、質量好的水性油墨逐漸占領市場。
