油墨的吸收量可以從孔大小的角度來考慮。在墨水被填充後，紙中的毛管吸收油墨中的粘合劑。當紙張纖維間的孔隙很小時，纖維的毛細效應就會被破壞，油墨的吸收性能很差。

　　當紙張纖維間孔隙過大，油墨吸收能力過強時，當油墨粘度較低時，毛細管不僅吸收粘合劑，而且吸收顏料，從而導致油墨滲透到紙張背面，乾燥後影響油墨層的厚度，使印染不能在紙錶面表現出應有的顏色飽和度，影響印刷品的質量。


　　壓力入滲階段和自由入滲階段的入滲量與紙張的吸收性能密切相關，特別是自由入滲更為突出。因此，紙張對油墨的吸收越強，油墨粘合劑的吸收率越快，油墨的乾燥速度就越快。紙張的油墨吸收與印刷品的質量密切相關，許多印刷故障是由於紙張的油墨吸收與印刷條件不匹配造成的。


　　在印刷中，紙張主要是吸收油墨中的粘合劑，如果紙張對油墨吸收過多，連接材料被吸收到紙張層或塗料中過多，導致紙張錶面油墨層缺乏連接材料，從而使顏料顆粒懸浮在紙張錶面，使印刷品印跡的顏色在結膜乾燥後變舊或失去光澤，甚至有些印染後，顏料就會以顆粒狀的形式被擦掉，從而產生粉化現象。當粉末嚴重時，在覆印過程中，當油墨層為印刷後的一種顏色時，前一種顏色的油墨層會從紙張錶面剝離。


　　解決辦法如下


　　1、更換合適的紙張


　　2、用增稠劑增加油墨的粘度，或在油墨中加入高樹脂含量的調墨油。


　　3、加濕紙張


　　透明印刷


　　當油墨粘度小，印刷壓力過大時，紙張對油墨的吸收過多，粘合劑滲透到紙的內部孔中，取代紙孔中的部分空氣，使空氣纖維、空氣塗層和空氣塗層之間的散射界面減小，紙張的光散射能力和透明性降低，可能導致透光現象的發生。
